Etiquette Refresher Some helpful etiquette tips to remember:
In Round - Be respectful to your competitors. This means refraining from stone-facing them during their speeches or otherwise engaging in disruptive behavior such as crinkling your water bottle when they are talking. -If you are double-entered, make sure you write the appropriate wording on the board (Round, Code; Ex: Round 2 E5 is D.E.). -Also make sure that you don't walk into a round when someone is giving the speech. Wait to hear the applause to be sure.
Out of Round -Do not belittle or demean other competitors, judges, or yourself for that fact! You never know who is listening to you and how your words can come back to you. -Help keep your fellow team members in a positive attitude by telling them "OTB" ("On The Bus") if you feel as if they are veering down a negative topic. Award Ceremony -Follow the rules and guidelines set forth at every award ceremony (Jazz Hands and One clap rule). We want our team to serve as a positive role model for other schools.
